Question about computers!! help plz!!?

well it will be more noticeable if you have a laptop like me, but can you hear the fan on at all times. im not sure but it seems like i used to be able to hear a the fan but now it seems like its much quieter, like theres no fan on. and also, it turns off randomly now. could it be overheating???
