How did John Dillinger Chang America Today?

I have a report to do in school on a person who changed America for better or for worse, and I chose John Dillinger. I don't know if this is a good person to do my report on, because it doesn't really seem like he changed America at all! Can anybody think of a way that he changed America? If you have a reliable source too that would be wonderful (like a website). Thanks
