I like this girl alot, but i need some help on what i should do. Advice?

i was really close with this boy once and we kindo got together for a while but we just drifted apart. and now we never speak. it's like we don't exist to eachother. my advice is never date your best friend because when it's over you'll crave the friendship back more than the actual relationship. i'd do anything to be his best mate again:(
